I guess my mom did not ever make this for our family growing up, because I do not remember seeing anything like this before. I vaguely remember shepherds pie being mentioned, but I dont recall it having potatoes. This slow cooker recipe definitely looks like something my family would enjoy. I will have to give it a try.

Comfort food through and through. Shepherd's Pie is an American classic. I for one, have never made my pies with diced tomatoes and or tomato paste, so the fact that she left that intentionally out of this recipe is a-okay fine by me. I just gotta have my peas and carrots in there. Sometimes I cheat for time and effort and just use Idahoan instant potatoes but don't tell anyone.
