My husband loved it and said make it again. I didn't really like it because it was too sweet for me.

Whenever we order Chinese takeout, it is always a toss up between orange chicken or General Tso's. The flavors in the sauce are amazing! The only thing I would do differently is to use freshly grated ginger. I did want to point out that I think there is an error with the cornstarch measurement - it calls for a whopping 3/4 of a cup, when I'm pretty sure you meant 1/4 cup.

The reason for the 3/4 cup of cornstarch is to have enough to dredge the chicken pieces in before you brown them. Cornstarch gives the pieces of chicken some crunch. I also use cornstarch to dredge shrimp in before I fry them. The directions are correct.

Although this isn't really considered a diet version, it is much lower in fat and calories than the stuff you get for takeout, since is not deep fried in a wok full of oil. I love that this makes a good sized batch, since I love leftover Chinese. I could just grab it out of the fridge and eat it cold, as I often do! A simple and quick egg drop soup would be nice with this dish also.

We always order General Tso's Chicken when we get Chinese takeout, so I will definitely make this. My slow cooker can brown meat before switching over to slow cook, so this will really be easy. I'll still order won ton soup, though.

This looks so good! I love the idea of making this in the slow cooker, since sometimes fried dishes can be time-consuming on the stove top.
