Popping it in the broiler AFTER letting it sit in the slow cooker is a great way to ensure that the skin gets nice and crispy. Just line your pan with some aluminum foil, and you don't have to wash anything else. If you want, you could sear it first for color, but the steam from the sauce won't allow for a really crispy skin.

This recipe is my new favorite slow cooker meal. Thank you for the tip about freezing it beforehand so its all ready when you want it. How efficient! I thawed some chicken breast meat for this and discovered that I had already cut it into nugget slices. I used it in the recipe and cooked it for 4 hours. It was done perfectly and the sauce was just right.

I hate to use a broiler. Can I get the chicken nice an brown before putting into crockpot?
