This Cherry Cola Chocolate Cake with Spiced Rum Icing is a delicious chocolate cherry cola cake recipe that combines the classic cherry-cola flavor with a moist chocolate cake. A cake this great deserves to be celebrated! This slow cooked chocolate cherry cake recipe uses cherry chips, but you are welcome to substitute fresh or dried cherries depending on your preferences. A spiced-rum icing makes this amazingly-moist chocolate cake complete. Top the cake with maraschino cherries, and serve this cake for birthdays, holidays or whenever you're craving something sweet. Omit the rum, and this easily becomes a kid-friendly dessert.

Did you use regular rum or the vanilla rum in the picture in this recipe? I want to make sure I get the ingredients right so that I can see what this dish tastes like. I think it sounds unique, and I am curious about the combination of flavors. I want to try it out and see how well they marry and what foods they might go with if I want to pair it with dinner.
