The Anolon Authority 3-Quart Covered Straining Saucepan is my new favorite little pan. The smaller size makes it ideal for making sauces and recipes for one. It comes complete with a shatter-resistant glass lid that fits snuggly in place.

This pan is built with the home cook in mind. Three layers of nonstick ensure you don't end up scraping your dinner into the garbage. One of the best parts of using this nonstick pan is that it is safe to use all of your metal utensils; that is how durable it really is. Most other companies warn people to stay away from using metal because the coating will chip, but this one has proven to be incredibly resilient.

I absolutely love the 3-quart size of this pan. It is big enough for so many different uses, but is small enough that is is not a pain to clean. I like using it to make steamed vegetables and all of my sauces. It is also the pan I reach for to reheat most leftovers.

The handle is actually one of my favorite features on this pan. The long steel handle is shaped to be comfortable in your hand. It makes lifting and pouring much easier on the hands and wrists.

The lid of this pan is specially designed to work with the pouring spouts. One side has large holes to make straining pasta quick, while the other side has smaller holes to strain more delicate foods. The lid is also slightly domed, helping to keep moisture circulating.

Most cookware sets won't come with a pan quite like this one, but I recommend adding it to your collection. The small, functional design makes it a great choice!
