Ingredients

  • 1/2 of a half-pound sirloin tip, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • freshly ground pepper, to taste
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or 1/2 teaspoon bottled minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 3 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2 green onions, sliced (white and green parts)
  • crushed red pepper flakes, optional

Instructions

  1. Insert plastic slow cooker liner bag into slow cooker.

  2. Add sirloin to the bottom of the liner. Season with pepper.

  3. Top sirloin with onion and garlic.

  4. Stir together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and five-spice powder in a small bowl.

  5. Pour over sirloin.

  6. Reserve green onions and crushed red pepper flakes to top finished dish for serving.

  7. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours.
