Make entertaining easy with this recipe for Slow Cooker Drunken Dogs. Whip this dish up before guests come so it'll be ready when they arrive. Tomato soup, bourbon, cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce coat the slow cooker hot dogs. Dark brown sugar contrasts the flavor of the vinegar to make the sauce sweeter. Cocktail frankfurters would be optimal, but you could also use chopped hot dogs. This is also a great dish to serve at a game day event. Be sure to serve your slow cooker appetizer with toothpicks so guests don't have to eat with their fingers.

So the "drunken dogs" are one of my all time favorite hors d'oeuvres. I just love them. In my life time, I have only made them once for myself. Running across this recipe is a good thing. Now I can save this recipe and use it the next time there is a family gathering at my house.

I can remember the first party I went to and these little smokies were served. I never got the recipe from the host and they were the best thing I had ever eaten. I keep trying these recipes looking for that flavor. Here goes.

I make lil smokies with the same ingredients all the time, but I never thought to use the soup. That sounds like it would tie the dish together and give it a more hearty and rich texture. Thanks for the post because I plan to add that to my next batch coming up on game day possibly.

This sounds so good! I can omit the bourbon and use red wine instead, then let the sauce get hot and actually cook the hotdogs inside it so they can absorb all of that yummy goodness. Serve it on some oversized rolls with coleslaw and oh my gosh I'm drooling. I think I just figured out what's for dinner tonight... )

Superbowl Sunday is coming up and I think that will be a great time to try out this recipe. Our church always has a Superbowl party and this recipe would be great to take in the slow cooker. Bring on the big game!

I have never heard of this kind of recipe before, using the condensed tomato soup and bourbon. This would make for a very unique experience for your taste buds! It does say that you can substitute cocktail wieners for just plain hot dogs. So, that will save you a little $ so you can spend more on the bourbon!
