Is the oyster sauce that important to this dish? I am not a big fan of the flavor. Is there something I can use to replace it with? I like the sound of this dish because of the honey. I like that you went with reduced sodium to keep some of the salt out of the dish.

Hi SissieSass, you could try using hoisin sauce instead of the oyster sauce in this recipe. I hope that helps! - Natalie, Editor of AllFreeSlowCookerRecipes

This is what I usually order from Chinese restaurants. Now I can make my own. Perfect. Sometimes you have to see an actual recipe to see how they make it and then it all makes sense. The slow cooking will also make the meat tender which is an essential part of the meal. Thank you for the recipe.

The only prep work really involved is mixing up the sauce, and slicing up the beef and broccoli! A great recipe for beginners or those who just don't have time to cook, it yields great results. Thanks for the tip about cooking it high and fast rather than low and slow. I think that is where I went wrong in the past making a similar dish, where the meat got really tough and hard to chew.

Beef and broccoli is my favorite Chinese dish. My mom and I would go out for lunch, and we would both order it. I used to make it in a wok, but haven't in many years. I'll definitely make it in my slow cooker. It looks delicious!
