Do you think that this recipe would work good if I chopped up bell peppers and put them in the recipe while it is cooking? I am not so big on using canned vegetables. I like to make dishes with fresh veggies when I can. I am sure that it will be delicious no matter what.

A new experience for me--I've never made an Italian beef. It looks scrumptious and the basketful ) of seasonings intrigues me. We do like most of them but I don't know if I've ever used them all in one place ) It is an interesting set of cooking instructions too. With the cheese and pepper rings we even get our dairy and veggies. I'm up for a change. Let's do it!

Italian beefs always get 5 stars in my book. A word of warning... you are going to need to bring a basket into your pantry to carry all of the seasonings you will be using for this recipe. Unless that is, you want to make several trips back and forth. All in all, it seems pretty simple to make my favorite sandwich ever! I don't eat cheese on mine, and instead of red and yellow peppers I do mild (or hot sometimes!) giardeniera. YUM
