If you are looking for the perfect fall dessert to make for your friends or family, try out this recipe for The Best Apple Cobbler...Ever. Homemade apple cobbler like this is a classic fall dessert that everyone is sure to love. The recipe requires only six ingredients, and while the vanilla and cinnamon sugar are listed as "optional," we all know that you should include them in there. Serve this simple apple cobbler recipe as a party dessert, or you can make it for a casual dinner dessert on the weekend or even as a weeknight treat.

Slow Cooker Time LOW6 hr

  • 2 (20 oz) cans of apple pie filling (1 can if using a crock smaller than 4.5 quarts)
  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Cinnamon sugar (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional)

  1. Empty both cans of apple pie filling into the crock. If you would like, sprinkle apples with cinnamon sugar.

  2. Mix cinnamon into the dry cake mix, then sprinkle dry cake mix mixture on top of the apples.

  3. Spoon the melted butter onto the cake mix layer. Do not mix the butter with the cake mix. The moisture generated from the slow cooker will bake the cake.

  4. Cook on HIGH setting for 4 hours (or on LOW for 6 hours).

  5. Spoon cobbler into dishes and serve topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

I cannot think of a faster way to make apple cobbler than this recipe right here. I mean how much easier can u make it? I can see wowing my guests when I pull this out of the kitchen on book club night. The girls will go crazy for it and want the recipe immediately.

Cake mix in apple cobbler is definitely an ingredient I wouldn't expect to see. I'm still amazed that it's even possible to bake a cake in a crock pot as it is...but I imagine adding it to this recipe is sure to be a bonus! Do you think streusel topping would work in a crock pot?

Can I use French vanilla cake mix instead of white cake mix? Please advise.

persland: Thanks for the catch! We updated the recipe. Editor, AllFreeSlowCookerRecipes

I think you mean a Crock pot smaller than 4 1/2 "quarts" not ounces.
