All-Day Slow Cooker Gumbo

All-Day Slow Cooker Gumbo is a rich and savory stew that features shrimp, chicken, and andouille sausage. This classic Cajun dish is packed with flavor without being heavy. Diced tomatoes, green pepper, onion, and garlic are the perfect balance to the various meats in this recipe. You can even add a hot pepper such as jalapeno or even a scotch bonnet to kick this recipe up a notch. However, if you can't handle that much spice, this gumbo recipe is just as good without it. Serve this slow cooker gumbo with a slice of crusty bread for a wonderful meal.

This recipe looks super easy and delicious. I can't wait to give it a try one weekend!

Love gumbo. this sounds like a fantastic recipe to try, too!

I always wondered what the difference was between Cajun seasoning and creole seasoning. I used Zatarains blackened seasoning for this one time, and Tony Chachere's bold more spice creole seasoning a different time, and they both tasted amazing. Don't make the mistake of adding the shrimp too early, or it will shrink up and become tough. It only takes a few minutes to cook through!

We just love Gumbo, and this recipe for the All-Day Slow Cooker Gumbo is so easy! I really like the idea of putting it all into a slow cooker and go on with my day and have dinner in a hour after being home. So much better than standing at the stove for hours like I do when I make Gumbo. I do have one question though, where can I find the Cajun spice here in the North? I have never seen it in our stores. What spices are in it, thinking I can just make my own.. I'm looking forward to making this easy gumbo. Thank you so much for sharing this free recipe.

Hi Cheryl, if you can't find Cajun seasoning in the spice aisle of your grocery store, you can definitely make your own at home. Here's a version here: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/149221/cajun-spice-mix/ - Natalie, Editor of AllFreeCasseroleRecipes
