Cheeseburger Soup 14 Slow Cooker Cheeseburger Recipes and More

Cheeseburger soup is becoming an American tradition. Since cheeseburgers were invented in the mid 1920s we cannot get enough of them. Cheeseburger soup comes in many varieties: some with cheese and bacon, some with cheese and tater tots and some with mushrooms and Swiss cheese. Hamburgers, an American institution, only grew in stature after the cheeseburger came on the scene.
The first cheeseburger was created between 1924 and 1926 by a chef named Lionel Sternberger in Pasadena, California. Some say he took the suggestion of a passing homeless man to add a slice of cheese to his hamburger order. Sternberger liked this combination and added it to his main menu and the rest, as they say, is history. Kentucky-based Kaelin’s Restaurant has also claimed it invented the cheeseburger in 1934. However, the following year, Louis Ballast of the Humpty Dumpty Drive-In in Denver, Colorado was awarded the trademark for the name “cheeseburger.”

Today, cooks across America are creating all different types of cheeseburger soup recipes to mimic our favorite types of cheeseburgers. This newer soup recipe has seemed to catch on.
