Does it matter what milk you use in this bread recipe? I like to cook with evaporated milk, but I am not sure it will be right for this case. I guess I can try it a couple of ways to see which cornbread comes out with the consistency and flavor I want.

I don't even know what spoonbread is, but the ingredients sound amazing. Any kind of bread is a hit with my family, especially anything with garlic. I make cornbread a lot, so I'm excited to try something new. It's interesting that it has sugar and garlic and pepper in it.

I had heard of spoon bread but never quite sure what it was. My grandmother was a stickler for cornbread without sugar. I make my stuffing with that. This sounds really different. I am curious if it sort of the consistency of polenta? I am going to give this a try. It would be a nice change from the normal potato stuff I tend to end up making.

I have already made a list of items to make this for my husband. He is a major garlic lover, while me...not so much. I have a feeling this will be a new favorite for him, although after eating it, he may be sleeping on the sofa for a night or two. Garlic stays with him far longer than it takes him to eat it....but he loves it, and I am definitely going to make this for him.

Anyone remember how to cook spoonbread? Was it baked? I remember my mother cooking it and I loved it!!

If this recipe is any indication, spoonbread is traditionally baked, however, I've never made it. I had it once, though, and loved it, so I'm going to check out several recipes.
