This is great comfort food - my stepdaughters taught me this recipe - except it was 3 ingredients only - Beef cubed, 2-3 pounds and 1 can Cream of Mushroom for each pound. Sprinkle Onion soup mix and cook on low for 8 hours. Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, noodle or pasta! You can add veggies to make it a beef stew. Very versatile recipe

Can you use something other than cream of mushroom?

I have made a 'healthy' version of this using Turkey/Chicken. Used cream of Chicken soup and Vegetable soup mix. I would think you could use cream of broccoli or any others that you like better. The soup is what gives you the rich gravy so you definitely want to keep it

Is there a particular brand that makes a beefy onion soup dry mix? I have only seen the onion soup mix by itself. I think this dish sounds tasty. You can serve it over rice or mashed potatoes and the gravy will go wonderful on the top of it all.

The gravy in this beef tips recipe looks so full of flavor, and I love that it is made with items / seasonings that I always have in my pantry! It would be delicious over a batch of mashed potatoes or some buttered egg noodles. The next time I see chuck roast on sale, I will surely be making this recipe!

It looks like this recipe has some good ratings. I planned on making beef tips and noodles for dinner this week. I really needed something quick and easy. This recipe seems to be just that. I know the family will enjoy it. Now to run to the store and buy some onion soup mix.
